TCS to end Work from Home, No decline is Hiring

The country’s largest software company Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has said that it has no plans to reduce hiring. However, the company has said that it will hire as per the demand. Recently Nasscom, an organization of software companies, had said that in the last financial year this industry has added only 60,000 jobs.

K Krithivasan, chief executive of TCS, said, “The economy is improving and we will need more people to do more work. We do not plan to reduce our hiring plan. We may have to change the pace of hiring. ” In the third quarter of the current financial year, the company’s net profit increased by about 8.2 percent to about Rs 11,735 crore. However, there was a decline in profit in America, the biggest market for the company. Krithivasan said that out of more than six lakh employees of TCS, more than two lakh are women.

On the work-from-home policy for the company’s employees, he said that important learning comes from senior employees and colleagues and this cannot be done through work-from-home. He said, “I believe that work-from-home or hybrid model is not the right way forward for the individual and the company. We value mutual collaboration and this cannot be done through Zoom calls or other online mediums. Can be done.” Recently, TCS had decided to link the salary increase and variable payments to its employees with the rules related to working from office. Heads of units in the company had told their teams that the grades required for promotion would be based on their working from the office. The company is offering digital compensation to new employees who complete prescribed courses. This will make them eligible for a higher salary than the annual package of Rs 3 lakh.

For promotion and increase in salary, it will be necessary to follow the return-to-office rule. TCS has made it mandatory for employees to attend office five days a week. Due to this, the facility of work from home has been withdrawn for some teams. The company has asked employees to go to their designated office instead of choosing the office closest to their residence.
