The Hindi transliteration feature of the SwiftKey keyboard app is useful, but…

In the world of smartphones, people have started relying on their fingers as well as their tongue to talk. You guessed it right, we are talking about messages. The interesting thing is that everyone is fond of talking in their own language. Perhaps this is the reason why companies are doing new experiments every day with the aim of promoting the use of other regional languages along with Hindi.

Keeping in mind the new age users, Google introduced Indic keyboard. After this, many companies conducted experiments in this direction. popular now keyboard app swiftkey Features like Google’s Indic keyboard have also been added. That is, if you type Namaste in English, it automatically becomes ‘Namaste’. Transliteration support has been provided by the company in Hindi and Gujarati languages.

We used this keyboard app. Let us share our experience with you. Please note that we have used the beta version of this app. Final build experience may vary slightly.

First of all you have to install and enable this keyboard. After this you activate the Swiftkey beta app. The app claims to give you better predictions while typing. After this you will have to verify your app with your Gmail account. Now the keyboard is ready to use. First you’ll get the option to customize your keyboard. Language will have to be added to it. You will be able to select Hindi phonetic and Hinglish language by going to Language.

We first selected Hindi and tested it. According to the company’s claim, it was easy to type. Its prediction was also working fine. And for this, a prediction bar appears just below the message box. The keyboard gives multiple predictions of one word. It is not necessary that he is visible on the screen. You’ll see a down icon in the upper right corner of the Keyboard app. You will be able to see other suggestions shown by the keyboard by clicking on it.

If you want to write a word in Hindi then type it in English. As soon as the first word is about to end, select the correct word from the Hindi suggestions for transliteration. With this the keyboard automatically guesses that you want to write in Hindi. After this the next words automatically start getting transformed into Hindi. But our experience was not so pleasant.

Many times, while writing in Hindi, the words remained in English. Due to this reason the typing sequence was broken again and again. Maybe this is happening because of the beta version. Hopefully this will work better in the final build. It is claimed that for any one word the keyboard app gives suggestions in both Hindi and English. But after activating the native Hindi keyboard, whenever we typed any word. The keyboard did not show English prediction.

Let us tell you that we have already been using Google’s Indic keyboard. In such a situation, it took some time to get used to this keyboard. But we can say with confidence that this keyboard works fast, especially in the case of English to Hindi transliteration. The prediction is also accurate to a great extent. And it will improve with use.

Apart from all this, if you want, you can decide the size of the keyboard. Apart from this, the layout of the keyboard can also be changed as per your convenience and choice. But to use it instead of Google Indic keyboard, you will have to ignore some shortcomings of transliteration.
