The tension of booking a hotel room for unmarried couples is over!
The tagline on the web homepage of Delhi-based startup ‘StainUncle’ reads, “Couples need room, not a judgement.” The effort of this startup is to change the mindset that does not accept physical relationship before marriage.
Founded in 2014 by Blaise Arizenov, Nandi Kumar Singh and Sanchit Sethi, the startup started out as a simple travel booking platform. However, in September 2015, it pivoted itself to a business catering to unmarried couples. Its website lists hotels suitable for couples in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai.
If we go to any online forum, most unmarried couples complain that they face problems while renting a room in a hotel. If the couple is from the same city, most hoteliers turn them away without asking any questions. However, this does not happen in four or five star hotels.
The FAQ on StayUncle’s website says, “You can be from any city and book a room in the same city. It is not prohibited by law. There is no law in India to stop a couple from booking a hotel for an overnight stay.
StayUncle’s Arizanov told Gadgets 360 that there are plans to add Chennai, Kolkata and Bangalore in the next few months. And similar hotels in all Tier 1 cities will be listed on the website in the coming days.
Users can book hotel rooms through the StayUncle platform. And you don’t even need to book for the whole day. Users can book rooms from 10 am to 7 pm, or 9 pm to 8 am. The hotels listed on StayUncle are 3-5 star hotels. The startup claims that the safety and hospitality levels of these hotels are constantly checked.
The company has publicly stated the factors it takes into consideration before partnering with hotels. Users can book rooms online or using WhatsApp.
The company plans to launch an app soon. However, the company needs money for this.
