The era of flip phones attracted a lot of people. Phones like Samsung Convoy, LG 450, Moto Razr V3, Nokia N93, Blackberry 9760 fueled the fashion of flip phones. ‘Moto Razor series’ phones were seen as status symbols in the country for a long time. In these, a flip cover (lid) was provided over the regular keypad part, which when raised, the phone would automatically lift up. In some flip phones the screen could be seen from outside. Which used to show related details at the time of call and ‘time and date’ the rest of the time. Opening the flip cover and talking while receiving a call used to attract everyone’s attention. In that era of feature phones, most of the avid users wanted to buy a flip phone.

Slider phone means having a shutter over the regular keypad area. During calls or normal use, the upper part of the phone has to be moved upwards. QWERTY actually refers to the keypad designed on a computer keyboard. Nokia’s Symbian OS series and especially BlackBerry introduced QWERTY in their mobile phones. Memories of BlackBerry Curve 9320, BlackBerry Q10, Nokia C3, Nokia E63 will still be fresh in people’s minds. Most of the phones in this series were called ‘business phones’ because they helped professional users in doing e-mail etc. Those whose fingers were set on the computer keyboard had to remember the correct placement of the letters. Phones with QWERTY keypad remained in trend for a long time and with time people rejected them due to shortcomings in design, specifications and fashion.
