TikTok reacts to being banned, does not share user data with China

After the TikTok ban, now TikTok’s reaction to this decision has finally come out. Nikhil Gandhi, head of TikTok India, says, “We have been invited to respond and clarify in collaboration with relevant government stakeholders.” He has clearly mentioned in his reply that he does not share any kind of information with the Chinese government. Let us tell you, the Indian government ordered on Monday night that 59 Chinese apps are being banned in the country, immediately after which the TikTok app was removed from Google Play store and Apple App Store. While TikTok has been removed from the Apps Store listing, users who already had this app installed on their phones can still use it.

In a statement issued through the official social media handle of TikTok, Nikhil Gandhi has confirmed that the process of implementing the ban order is currently underway. Company representatives will hold a meeting with government officials to discuss and offer clarification on the matter. Nikhil Gandhi says that privacy and security of users is primary for TikTok and there will be no compromise with users’ data. Even if the Chinese government makes any request in this regard.

Gandhi said in his statement, “TikTok follows all data privacy and security requirements under Indian law and no information about our Indian users is shared with any foreign government, including the Chinese government. “If we are asked to do anything like this in the future, we will not do anything like this. User privacy and integrity is of utmost importance to us.”

Gandhi also said that millions of people depend on TikTok for their lifestyle, including many first-time internet users.

The deletion of TikTok from the App Store means that now you will not get any kind of update related to this app. However, if you already have the app, you can use it but any new features and security changes will not be made in the future.

Apart from TikTok, the Indian government has banned 58 Chinese apps in India, which include many apps like ShareIt, UC Browser, Shein, Club Factory, Clash of Kings, Helo, Mi Community, CamScanner, ES File Explorer, VMate. The government claims that all these apps were involved in such activities, which can pose a threat to the sovereignty and integrity of the country, security of the country, security of the state and public order etc.
