TSMC FIRES Employees Over iPhone 18 2nm Chip Trade Secret Leak Attempt Legal Action

TSMC, who is the major chip manufacturer of Apple, has recently revealed that some employees tried to leak the privacy details of the company’s new 2 Nanometer Chip Technology. This is the same technique that is being developed for the A20 processor used in the next iPhone 18 model. It is being told that the TSMC has immediately registered a case in Taiwan’s judiciary by removing the accused employees from his job.

Nikkei asia’s Report It is reported that TSMC notices an unusual access pattern in the internal logs, which happened when the sensitive 2Nm development data was seen. A deep investigation found that it was not a mistake, but intentionally trying to extract trade secrets. The accused employees were immediately suspended and Taiwan’s agencies have been informed.

According to the report, this leak did not include Apple’s designs, but had a fine information related to the manufacturing process of TSMC. It was associated with technology that would be used in Apple’s A20 chip, such as AI and high-performance computing details.

The TSMC has asked the publication that it would not tolerate such an IP theft and demand a maximum fine on the accused. According to the information received, under the National Security Act of Taiwan, the accused can be sentenced to 12 years in jail or up to $ 3 million fine.
