Uber EV Auto Rickshaw Service Launch in Ayodhya ahead of Ram Mandir inauguration

App-based cab booking platform Uber has launched its electric auto rickshaw service in Ayodhya under the Uber Auto category in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Uber has announced the launch of its affordable car service UberGo and Uber Intercity operations in Ayodhya. These services aim to meet inter-city travel needs and connect the holy city to other popular destinations in Uttar Pradesh.

Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, said, “With this launch, we are providing better travel options to tourists and pilgrims, while also creating earning opportunities for many in the region.” The move in Ayodhya is part of Uber’s growth plan in India, as the company currently operates in 125 cities across the country. “We work to promote hassle-free travel, contribute to tourism in Ayodhya and boost economic growth,” Singh said.

Uber earlier this month started testing its flexible pricing service Uber Flex in several tier 2 and 3 cities in India. This feature allows passengers to bid at a specific fare for their ride. Uber Flex was first tested in India in October last year. Now it has been rolled out to Chandigarh, Jodhpur, Surat, Coimbatore, Gwalior, Indore, Aurangabad, Ajmer, Dehradun, Bareilly and other cities.
