Uttar Pradesh Registers Highest Vehicle Sales in Fourth Quarter of Last Year, Maharashtra on Second Position

Uttar Pradesh remained at the forefront in total sales of vehicles in the fourth quarter of last year. After this there are Maharashtra, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. In Uttar Pradesh, 8,22,472 units of vehicles were sold in the October-December quarter. These included passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, two-wheelers and three-wheelers.

According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), 6,88,192 units of vehicles were sold in Maharashtra in the fourth quarter of last year. Total sales of vehicles in Gujarat were 4,21,026 units and in Tamil Nadu were 4,19,189 units. Maharashtra has been at first position in the sales of passenger vehicles. 1,21,030 units were sold in Maharashtra. This was followed by Uttar Pradesh (1,01,568 units), Gujarat (85,599 units) and Karnataka (71,549 units).

Uttar Pradesh stood first in the two-wheeler category with sales of 6,73,962 units. This was followed by Maharashtra (5,15,612 units), Madhya Pradesh (3,35,478 units) and Tamil Nadu (3,24,918 units). Apart from this, Uttar Pradesh also leads in the three-wheeler category with sales of 23,859 units. This was followed by Maharashtra (20,495 units), Gujarat (19,743 units) and Bihar (14,955 units). Maharashtra stood first in commercial vehicles with 31,055 units. It was followed by Uttar Pradesh (23,083 units), Gujarat (20,391 units) and Karnataka (16,966 units).

Automobile companies have had a good start this year. Most of these companies have registered growth in January compared to the same period last year. Nearly four lakh cars were sold in January. Sales of Maruti Suzuki, one of the big car makers, increased by about 15.5 percent to 1,99,364 units. The company had sold 1,72,535 units in the same period last year. Tata Motors’ sales in January have increased by 12 percent on year-on-year basis. The company has sold 54,033 units including Electric Vehicles (EV). Its sales in the same period last year were 48,289 units. Tata Motors’ export of passenger vehicles has also increased. The company has exported 400 units in January. This is an increase of about 32 percent compared to the same period last year. In the last few months, Tata Motors has launched updated versions of Harrier, Nexon and Safari. Due to this, the pace of sales of the company has increased. The company’s growth in the EV segment has been 69 percent on year-on-year basis.
