Watch solar tornado Video Recorded by Nasa SDO Andrew McCarthy & more

The results of the movements taking place in the Sun are being seen every day. Sometimes solar flares are coming towards the earth, and sometimes CME (coronal mass ejection). This is all a result of the 11-year solar cycle, which has caused the Sun to ‘flare up’. Recently another spectacular phenomenon was seen in the Sun, which surprised scientists and researchers. A solar tornado rose so high in the Sun that it was not seen before. Its height was about 10 times more than the height of the Earth.

The Solar Dynamics Observatory of the American space agency NASA captured this incident on camera last Friday. Astrophotographer Andrew McCarthy also confirmed this in one of his tweets. He captured this incident with his solar telescope. Andrew wrote that he spent 3 hours with his solar telescope yesterday. During this time a long tornado like thing appeared on the Sun.

According to reports, its height was equal to 14 earths stacked on top of each other. This ‘tornado’ of solar plasma was throwing moon-sized fireballs at the Sun itself. From this it can be estimated how much active phase our Sun is in. A video related to this was also revealed, which was shared by Andrew McCarthy. It was claimed that the solar tornado was spread up to 1 lakh 19 thousand kilometers in space. However, since the video was not very clear, he deleted it.

Another astrophotographer Apollo Laski also captured this surprising incident and shared it on social media. He said that such activity in the sun has never been seen in the past years. It has been estimated that the ‘solar tornado’ was rotating over the Sun at a speed of about 5 lakh kilometers per hour and its temperature was about 2.5 lakh degrees Celsius. This is much higher than the surface of the Sun.

Solar tornadoes are similar to solar flares. These arise due to magnetic field lines on the surface of the Sun and lift up plasma-like clouds. These are not at all unusual for the Sun and occur several times a year, but the size of the current solar tornado was very large.
