To increase the convenience of passengers, Western Railways has launched a mobile app with the help of which passengers will now be able to check the live status of the train. Apart from this, many more features have been mentioned in this app. This app has been made live for passengers from April 5 and passengers can avail its facilities. It has been launched in the name of ‘Yatri App’. The launch of the app is said to benefit lakhs of people living in Mumbai.

‘Yatri App’ (Yatri App) is an app launched by Western Railways on which train passengers can now see the live status of the train as well as announcements, latest time table, maps of main railway stations etc. to the app Google Play Store as well as Apple Store Can also be downloaded from. Through the app, passengers will be able to see the live location of the train between Churchgate station in South Mumbai and Dahanu stations in the adjoining Palghar district. Apart from this, passengers will also get information about tourist attractions, Mumbai Metro, Mumbai bus service etc. around these stations in the app. This app has been developed by Railways with the help of CDP India Private Limited. Railway Board has shared a post regarding this on its social media handle in which the launch of the app has been mentioned.

According to the information given in the press release, it has been said about the app that for this Western Railways has installed GPS in all its EMUs. With the help of this, passengers are able to know the real time location of the train. Another special thing is that this app has been designed keeping in mind the disabled passengers also. Voice command support is also provided here. So that through Google Assistant, passengers can easily ask the live status of the train even by speaking.

Apart from all the features mentioned, emergency contact numbers of railways and medical have also been made available to the passengers in this app so that passengers can use them in case of emergency. Earlier last year, Central Railways had also launched a similar app to check the live status of trains for the suburbs.
