What is SAMAR 2 India airforce will test the Air Defense System soon

Hindustan Times, quoting Indian Air Force officials, has written that SAMAR 2 is ready to be tested soon. Its range i.e. firepower is about 30 kilometers. According to the report, one of the officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the first firing trial would be conducted by December. The Air Force has developed this air defense system in collaboration with two industry partners.
The special thing is that SAMAR 1 has been prepared before SAMAR 2. It is providing its services to the Indian Air Force. SAMAR 1 has a range of 8 kilometers.
What is special in SAMAR system?
Missiles of Russian origin are used in the SAMAR defense system. Russian missiles, which are designed for air-to-air attack, are used in the SAMAR system in such a way that targets can be destroyed in the air by hitting them from the surface. The SAMAR 1 system uses R-73E missiles, while SAMAR 2 will use R-27 missiles.
The SAMAR 2 system typically uses air-to-air missiles that have outlived their shelf life and are not safe for air-to-air combat. They will be used by firing them from surface to air.
What threats can SAMAR deal with?
The Samar-2 air defense system is capable of destroying many types of air weapons including enemy fighter jets, helicopters and UAVs.
According to media reports, Air Force’s 7 Base Repair Depot (BRD) Tughlakabad played a special role in developing the summer system. The team carefully made necessary changes in the R-27 missiles, so that they could be fired from the ground in the air.
