WhatsApp banned more than 20 lakh Indian accounts in December 2021!
Whatsapp released its latest report saying that in December 2021, it banned 20 lakh 79 thousand accounts. The company says that 95 percent of the banned accounts were banned for unauthorized use of automated messaging or bulk messaging or spam. Earlier in November, the company had banned 17 lakh 50 thousand accounts and had received 602 complaint reports.
Regarding the complaint reports received in December 2021, it has been said that out of 528 reports, 149 were about account support, 303 reports were filed regarding ban appeal, 29 reports were received for other support and 32 reports were received for product support. Of these, 13 reports were also about safety.
The accounts on which complaint is received and action is taken are shown on WhatsApp as “Accounts Actioned”. Taking action means that either that account is being banned or the banned account is being restored.
The new IT rules in India were implemented in May last year. According to these rules, digital platforms with more than 50 lakh users will have to publish compliance reports every month. In this report, all the information about the complaints received and the action taken on them will have to be given.
Earlier, WhatsApp had strongly emphasized that messaging on the platform is done with the security of end-to-end encryption and WhatsApp does not have the facility to view the content. To know the behavior of any account, WhatsApp only has access to user reports, profile photo, group photo and description. Apart from this, the company uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools so that the platform cannot be used for wrongdoing.
