To keep the platform safe, WhatsApp has taken action and banned about 38 lakh accounts. The instant messaging platform has given this information in an official post. Of these, about 10 lakh had such accounts which were flagged by Indian users. Taking all these actions, the messaging platform has banned them so that users can be protected from attacks like spam, phishing etc. In November, 946 complaints were received from users on the platform in which an appeal was made to ban 830 accounts.

In the month before November i.e. October, the company had banned more than 23 lakh accounts. During this period, WhatsApp had banned a total of 23.24 lakh accounts. Of the 37.16 lakh accounts banned in November, 9.9 lakh accounts were already banned by the company, before users flagged them. Similarly, in October also, the company had banned 8.11 lakh accounts even before the users flagged them.

Under IT Rules 2021, WhatsApp announced in November 2021 Report It has been said that it has banned 37 lakh 16 thousand accounts between November 1, 2022 and November 30, 2022. Of these, 9.9 lakh accounts were banned even before users reported them. Indian accounts are identified by the number +91.

Last year, the government had implemented new IT rules according to which digital platforms with more than 50 lakh users will have to submit their public compliance report every month. In this, the platform will have to tell how many complaints it received in a month and what action was taken for the same. Things like inflammatory speeches, misinformation and fake news have increased significantly on major social media platforms in recent times, due to which the platforms are now taking strict action against the users who spread such rumors and misinformation. WhatsApp has received more complaints from users against accounts in November than in October. In November, 946 complaints were received on the platform in which an appeal was made to ban 830 accounts. At the same time, the platform took action against 73 accounts.
