WhatsApp Gets Design Changes Darker Dark Mode Redesigned Navigation New Icons to More

WhatsApp has made several changes to the mobile interface design for both iOS and Android platforms. Some of the new changes are quite subtle, while others are more obvious. There are also some other changes in the layout like chat filters, which are said to help improve navigation. The company says that these changes enhance the functionality while keeping the app simple and straightforward. With the new changes, the iOS and Android layouts of the app look more similar than before.

The company has a blog Post claimed that the new green WhatsApp interface was chosen after considering more than 35 colour palettes. WhatsApp for Android has also got a dark mode with higher contrast and deeper tones to reduce eye strain and make it easier to read in low light conditions. The WhatsApp icon has also been updated with a rounded, outlined look. There are new animations and redesigned photos to match these. The original default doodle background has also been revamped.

As part of the design overhaul, Android users also get a bottom navigation bar on WhatsApp. The feature was rolled out in March this year. iOS users get a new attachment layout with an extendable tray instead of a full-screen menu. The recently introduced chat filters have also been redesigned with separate tabs for unread messages and groups. Previous reports suggested that WhatsApp is testing a new zoom control feature that will allow users to switch between multiple zoom options while clicking photos or recording videos directly in the app.
