WhatsApp Testing Link Privacy Feature Picture-in-Picture Features Know Details

WhatsApp has reportedly started rolling out a new privacy feature. This helps users choose the privacy level of links shared in their chats. This feature has not been announced yet, but it has been spotted on some beta testing accounts. It is being said that WhatsApp is also preparing a new video view feature inside the app. A recent report claimed that the company is working on a locked chat feature for linked devices and it is expected to be available in an upcoming update. WhatsApp initially introduced the chat lock feature for smartphones in May 2023.

WhatsApp has started rolling out a link privacy feature to some beta testers, Android Police reports. Users can choose to turn off link previews with this feature, which means the link will not be accompanied by a thumbnail preview or any other data related to the article. This will prevent anyone trying to monitor the chat from getting any information related to the link.

This feature will also help in checking chats and making them easier to navigate. More importantly, it is also expected to prevent data leaks. WhatsApp beta testers can access this feature by tapping on Privacy > Advanced in WhatsApp’s Settings menu and under the Disable Link Preview option. Gadgets 360 has confirmed that this feature is live on the new beta version of WhatsApp.

Meanwhile, a report by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo has claimed that the company is preparing a new video viewing feature. This will allow users to watch videos shared between contacts on the app in a picture-in-picture segment within the app. This is similar to the picture-in-picture feature that is available when watching YouTube and Instagram videos shared on WhatsApp.

The report says that the picture-in-picture view feature for WhatsApp media videos is available only within the WhatsApp application and not on any other app. This means that with this feature, users can watch a video sent by one of their contacts, exit the chat, and continue a chat or group conversation inside WhatsApp, while the video continues to play in a small window. . It also says that this feature is still under work and is not available even for beta testers.
