WhatsApp Working on status tab design beta test revealed

The new beta version of WhatsApp 2.24.4.23 for Android offers a redesigned Status tab that will improve user experience. Available through the Google Play Store, the update offers a new interface for viewing status updates, focusing on easier access and better navigation within the app.

Updated interfacechanges the way status updates are displayed. The new design is simpler than the previous horizontal layout and profile photo identification. Users can now preview status updates directly from the status update tray at the top of the Updates tab through thumbnail previews of previously shared statuses. This provides a quick view at the content without having to open the status update every time.

This redesigned update comes after user feedback, which highlighted the lack of features in the previous layout. By introducing larger thumbnails for previews, WhatsApp wants to improve the browsing experience, allowing users to easily decide which update to view in full. Apart from this, the redesign affects the placement and visibility of channel posts within the Updates tab, which includes both status and channel updates. The new card-style format for status updates makes it more manageable, changing the way channel updates are displayed. The first target of these card-based previews is to facilitate easier selection and status viewing of status updates.

Currently, this redesigned interface is in the beta testing phase and is available to a select group of beta testers. How it will be in the stable version of WhatsApp will depend on user feedback and new technology. WhatsApp is also working on other features like synchronizing chat lock across devices for better security and testing a file-sharing feature similar to Android’s Quick Share.
