Today we will be comparing Honor 6X and Asus Zenfone 3S Max with Redmi Note 4. Both these smartphones have also proved to be good options priced below Rs 15,000. Along with this, we will know on different parameters which feature is best in which phone. And which smartphone is better according to your needs. Let’s find out.
design
All three smartphones come with metal-clad bodies. But we feel that the edges of the Redmi Note 4 are a little too thin. If you have a Redmi Note 3, then you may not find the design of the new phone very attractive. Talking about the surface, it looks largely similar to last year’s variant. But Xiaomi has made some changes in the design of the phone, which makes Redmi Note 4 feel more premium than before and it is also easy to hold with one hand.
The curved edges of the display enhance the beauty of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. And the rear gives better grip compared to previous smartphones. On the other hand, the Honor 6X does not provide good grip due to the smooth texture of the body while the Asus Zenfone 3S Max is a bit heavy due to the larger battery.
Winner- Xiaomi Redmi Note 4
display
Honor 6X and Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 have 5.5 inch full HD display. The ZenFone 3S Max lags behind both these phones in terms of display as it has half the resolution of the others. However, the phone has a slightly smaller 5.2-inch display. Talking about Xiaomi and Honor, the brightness level of Honor 6X is very good. Color reproduction is also excellent and the phone can be read well even in sunlight. Redmi Note 4 is also not far behind and it also offers very good colors and viewing angles.
Winner – Honor 6X
software
All companies have provided Android with their own customizations. Here we would recommend you to adopt Xiaomi’s MIUI 8 for light and polished look but the latest version of Android 7.0 Nougat has been used in Zenfone 3S Max. Compared to MIUI 8, ZenUI feels a bit outdated and needs improvement. Same is the case with Honor’s EMUI 4.1, which is more complex than it needs to be. Xiaomi and Honor should upgrade their phones to Nougat in the near future, but if you want to enjoy the features of the latest version of Android, then Asus is a better option for you.
Winner – Asus Zenfone 3S Max
performance
Can anyone give competition to Redmi Note 4 in this segment because Xiaomi is ahead by a big margin. The phone has very good components for the price. Apps and games run smoothly without lag due to the Snapdragon 625 octa-core chip.
The Honor 6X is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 655 octa-core processor, which on paper doesn’t look as powerful as Qualcomm’s. But it does all the required work very well without heating the phone. The MediaTek MT6750 chip in the Asus Zenfone 3S Max lags behind the other two but the general performance is fine. However, the phone gets a little warm after playing videos or games.
Winner – Xiaomi Redmi Note 4
battery life
Our testing revealed that on a single charge all three phones last for a whole day. In our video loop test, the Redmi Note 4’s battery lasted the longest, which was a bit surprising. Because we expected the Asus Zenfone 3S Max to last longer due to its larger battery and lower resolution display. The good thing is that it has been provided with Pump Express 2 for fast charging, due to which the battery charges very fast.
Winner – Xiaomi Redmi Note 4
camera
All three phones produce excellent landscape and close-up shots in good lighting. However, Asus Zenfone 3S Max was better than the rest due to the best camera performance in low light. The detailing in the pictures is not very good but there is not much noise in the pictures. The camera apps come with a really nice manual mode with a live histogram and a 3-axis level. Compared to the older variant, Redmi Note 4 has a better 13-megapixel camera but the company still needs to improve the performance in low light. We had the same experience with the 12-megapixel camera of the Honor 6X, but there is a secondary camera for depth of field, which could be interesting. All three phones can record video up to 1080 pixels and have a variety of shooting modes.
Winner – Asus Zenfone 3S Max
our decision
Talking about value, it is very difficult to beat the top variant of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage at Rs 12,999. When it comes to battery life, design and performance, it surpasses both the other rivals. Camera performance in low light is one segment where we can expect better results. But in overall performance, Redmi Note 4 is far ahead of the other two phones.
While it is easy to recommend buying this phone, it is difficult to buy it before it is sold out. Apart from this, Honor is also organizing flash sale to sell its phones and according to us this is not right. Therefore, Asus Zenfone 3S Max smartphone is a very good alternative to Redmi Note 4. It is easy to buy online and is better than the other two phones in camera and software. The low resolution display disappointed us but the small size display tries to compensate for this.
