Who is reading a book on Mars Nasa Curiosity rover took a surprising picture

Scientists are exploring Mars in search of the possibility of life outside Earth. American space agency NASA has sent several missions to the Red Planet. One of them is NASA’s Curiosity Mars rover. On the 15th of last month, when the Curiosity rover celebrated its 3,800th Martian day on the red planet, a photo was taken. The picture is of a rock, which is called Terra Firme. Terra Firme looks like the open pages of a book. Looks like someone has opened that book to read. The picture was captured with the help of Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI). The size of the rock is approximately 2.5 centimeters.

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory AccordingUnusual looking rocks are commonly found on Mars. NASA says that such rocks were formed in the past due to water seeping through cracks. Such rocks are found in different areas of Mars, which show that there used to be water on this planet.

NASA’s Curiosity Mars Rover reached Mars in August 2012. It is a mobile lab the size of a car. The purpose of Curiosity Mars Rover is to explore the climate, geology etc. of Mars. It is also to know how favorable this planet was for life in the past and what are the possibilities in the future.

Many modern equipment have been installed in the Curiosity Mars Rover, which includes cameras, spectrometers and sensors. The data this rover is collecting will help scientists understand the history and development of this planet.

In February this year, NASA had shared some pictures taken by Curiosity Rover. Looking at them it seemed that there must have once been a lake of water on Mars. NASA had expressed the possibility that these could be traces of an ancient lake. The place where the photo was taken is known as the Sulphate Bearing Unit.
