Xiaomi stressed in the launch event that the company wanted to experiment with its new handset Mi 5, that is why its rear back is 3D ceramic. The company claims that the ceramic material used in the top model of Mi 5 is not like the ceramic used in making plates but it is high quality nano-ceramic zirconia ceramic. Due to the ceramic body, the texture of the handset looks like marble.

It is worth noting that Mi 5 has been launched in three different variants Standard, High and Exclusive Edition. Only the top model has used 3D ceramic model while the other two models have glass back panel only.

According to the company, Mi 5 equipped with Quick Charge 3.0 can be charged in 5 minutes and can be used for 2.5 hours while it will be charged 80-90 percent in one hour. Xiaomi has provided Type-C USB in MI5.

Xiaomi had released several sample shots of Mi 5 even before the official launch. The phone has 16 megapixels with phase detection autofocus, LED flash and Sony IMX298 camera sensor. The rear camera also has 4axis OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) and sapphire glass protection lens. The smartphone supports 4K video recording. The phone has a front camera of 4 ultrapixels with 2 micron pixels. Both cameras have F/2.0 aperture.

Xiaomi says that Mi 5 is equipped with the company’s first camera feature DTI (Deep Trench Isolation) technology. The phone has a Snapdragon 820 processor, through which Qualcomm Spectra Image Processor 4K video recording can be done in Mi5.

The price of the standard edition has been kept at around Rs 21 thousand (1,999 Chinese Yuan), the price of the high variant has been kept at around Rs 24 thousand (2,299 Chinese Yuan) while the price of the exclusive edition has been kept at around 28 thousand rupees (2,699 Chinese Yuan).
