YouTube to Offer Shopping With Videos, Partners With Flipkart and Myntra

Video streaming service YouTube launched YouTube Shopping in the country on Friday. This service is already available in countries like America and South Korea. In this, video creators will get the option to tag brands in their videos. For this, YouTube has tied up with e-commerce sites Flipkart and Myntra.

The service will be available for horizontal videos, livestreams and short videos across web, mobile apps and connected TVs. youtube Told that video creators will be able to sign up for this. Once the channel’s application is approved to join the Affiliate Marketing Program, products and retailers will be able to be tagged in the channel’s videos. In this, viewers will be able to browse the products without leaving the video. On clicking the link, viewers will be able to go to the retailer’s website for purchase. The commission rate for different products will be shown during the tagging process. Up to 30 products can be tagged in a video.

However, there are some eligibility conditions for the creators for this. In this the channel will need to be a part of the YouTube Partner Program. Along with this, the channel should have more than 10,000 subscribers. However, other music channels related to children will not be able to sign up for this. Recently, YouTube had increased the price of its premium subscription in many countries. This subscription does not contain advertisements. YouTube has increased its prices in Italy, Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and many other countries. In some countries of Europe, the price of its ‘single’ plan has been increased by about two euros. Apart from this, ‘Family’ plan has also become expensive.

YouTube, owned by Alphabet, which runs internet search engine Google, has increased the prices of this subscription in India too. In Ireland, Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands, the price of the single plan has been increased from 11.99 euros to 13.99 euros. With this, the price of the family plan has increased by almost 40 percent from 17.99 euros to 25.99 euros. This subscription has also been made expensive in Denmark, Indonesia, Malaysia, Norway, Sweden, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. YouTube says that the reason for this is to improve this premium service and to support artists and creators.
